Happiness is one of those elusive paradoxes. The more you seek it the less you find of it.

And yet we know people who exude joy that doesn’t change with their toys or circumstances. So what to do?
The secret is in ones focus because the object of your focus creates joy or discontentment.
- What we’re lacking leads to discontentment.
The inverse is also true.
- What we’re thankful for leads to contentment.
And contentment is a chief hallmark of Joy.
So shift your focus and Joy will follow. Too simple? Here is your joy challenge: do it for 30 days and write me back with your results.
I have another to add to the list. It is about how we see the world and engage with others which is especially obvious this time of year because of our cultural exaggerated WANT. Does this time of year seem to put more of an emphasis on “getting” or pointing out what you are “lacking”? It’s almost as if the season is provoking our desires. Convincing us that we need more…everything. Or maybe the images and advertisements only confirm our suspicion “If I just had more, then I will feel satisfied.” Either way, this only heightens each of our focuses on ME.
